Project: Connswater Flood Alleviation Works

This project was a high profile contract aiming to resolve the flooding on the Castlereagh Road and surrounding  areas in Belfast. This included the excavation of 29,000m3 of material from Orangefield Park and disposal in landfill sites. This created a flood plain for the river, we then re-routed the existing river, widening and deepening it and formed earth bunds to the rear of residential properties to act as a further safeguard to any potential flooding. Pedestrian paths were formed throughout the site, with all associated landscaping works, including viewing points and picnic areas.
